USA. Bloomsburg, PA—October 16, 2014. — SEKISUI Polymer Innovations, LLC today announced the release of KYDEX® FST2, a new addition to their innovative family of KYDEX® Thermoplastics.
KYDEX® FST2 is a fully-compliant, advanced-polymer, PVC-free technology specifically formulated to meet all Boeing and Airbus Toxicity requirements for aircraft interior components. Applications include passenger-facing seat components, bulkhead laminates, galleys, and other cabin interior parts.
"With KYDEX® FST2, our aviation interior customers have a fully-compliant material that meets a complex set of regulations for their thermoformed applications," said Lydia Swan, Vice President Sales and Marketing, SEKISUI SPI. "In addition they are able to source one material for their projects eliminating inconsistent colour, texture, and gloss issues that frequently occur with parts supplied from different sources. Designers can realize multi-faceted, layered designs with low minimums and custom colour using the whole product line."
KYDEX® FST2 thermoforms well and delivers a sophisticated flat matte finish – a rare combination quality for products meeting this mix of regulations (typically they are high gloss). KYDEX® FST2 is formulated exclusively by SEKISUI SPI keeping it independent of existing resin supplier technology.
KYDEX® FST2 meets the flammability and smoke development requirements outlined in Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) 25.853 paragraphs (a) and (d) and the toxicity requirements for Airbus (ABD0031) and Boeing (BSS7239). Its wide processing window and ease of thermoforming makes it ideal for complex parts.
